Meet the Team
Faces of Our Movement
Our amazing team is the force behind the work that the group does.
Peter Duffy
Chairman
Peter is a founder member of Brixworth Wombles. After noticing a horrendous quality of litter on his daily walk during the first Covid lockdown he decided to do something about it rather than complaining about it.
Within a matter of weeks he had met others that felt the same passion and joined forces. And so, Brixworth Wombles were formed.
Raechel Palmer-Charles
Treasurer
Hi, I am Raechel Palmer-Charles and I live in St Davids Close with my black Labrador Jack.
Back in 2021 after doing ‘Dry January’ I was attempting to walk 10,000 steps a day in February. I noticed on Social Media, a local man Peter Duffy litter picking around Brixworth. And I thought that would be a much more productive use of my time rather than walking aimlessly around the village.
I messaged Peter and we arranged our first pick together around St Davids Playing Field. And as you say the rest is history.
If you also enjoy living in our beautiful village and appreciate seeing it looking tidy, please come and join our friendly group. Just one or two sessions a month really does make all the difference. But be warned, Wombling is very addictive!
Barry Green
Hi, I’m Barry Green. I have lived in Brixworth since 2012.
I joined Brixworth Wombles in 2021.
If, like me , you get “infuriated” (Calm Down) by discarded litter then join us and spend a few productive hours each month helping to keep our precious village tidy and spread the word.
Jane Ames
I have had the pleasure of living in Brixworth for over 20 years and have always loved the community spirit of the village.
I work for a local company The Breadline and in my spare time I design, make and sell teddy bears!! Brixworth is a beautiful place with a long history that we should all be proud of. When I found out we had a local Womble group it seemed an obvious choice to join the wonderful people who volunteer to pick up rubbish around the village and surrounding areas.
The satisfaction you receive when you see the difference we make is amazing. So proud to be part of this group.
Jim Wardle
Hi, I'm Jim.
I was prompted to purchase a litter picker many years ago in response to the fact that fast food waste was regularly discarded in road where I live. Given the choice to remain angry at this, or to do something about it, I decided on the latter course of action.
Several years later, I saw on social media that the Wombles group had been formed. I felt I had to become involved with these like-minded folks who all share the same objective of trying to keep the village and surrounding area tidy.
