Our Story
Working towards a tidier Brixworth
Brixworth Wombles began at the beginning of 2021 when group of like-minded residents decided to come together to address the issue of litter and other discarded debris that blights the district.
With magnificent support from local businesses and individuals, the group was soon kitted out with equipment, including hi-viz jackets, litter pickers, hoops and signage.
Since then over a thousand bags of litter has been collected, making the village and surroundings a significantly more pleasant place to live and work.
Objectives
1 / Litter Picking
We organize group litter picks around the Brixworth area and also encourage individuals to perform picks between the scheduled group picks.
2 / Education
We get involved with local schools and community groups (e.g. Scouts) to provide education on the harms that litter does, the wider environmental impact, and what individuals can do to improve the situation.
3 / Community Activity
We support other local Community activities. Examples include assisting with traffic management at the Remembrance Day parade, clearing the excess pine needles at the corner of Northampton Road and Spratton Road and assisting with marshalling the Park Run at Brixworth Country Park
